Spring 2008 Reading Group:

Progressive Federalism

Want to earn course credit for helping progressive states and localities implement innovative policies? In ACS's Spring "Progressive Federalism Reading Group (PFRG)" you will have a chance to learn about the growing progressive federalism movement while conducting your own independent research on hot issue areas relevant to today's policymakers.

[For a cheat sheet on why progressive federalism matters, check out  Richard Thompson Ford's The New Blue Federalists and Joel Barkin and Matt Singer's Federalism's Silver Lining: Progressives Must Turn Their Attention to the States.

Tthe Top 5 reasons to join:
1. Flexibility to earn course credit while working on progressive issue areas you care about (e.g., immigration rights, voting rights, making work pay, and energy efficiency and a cleaner environment)
2. Networking opportunities with our external partners, who will be veterans of progressive state policy work
3. Chance to collaborate with like-minded students (1-L's are especially encouraged to join!)
4. Exposure to a broad range of issue areas through readings, discussions, and presentations of other students' projects
5. Possibility of institutional support to disseminate and publish your policy work
